Art Portfolio (Second painting)

The Second landscape painting

In the second landscape painting, i sketched with a pencil to make it easier for myself and go crazy on my boat and then i saw my self drawing up a mountain repeatedly. This mountains will act like a force that is blocking the sun from shining, illustrating that the Mystical events that happened beyond the mountains. This is to make people think why does it look like we all live in the cities why do we we think about new things, but now people are thinking of how to leave how to survive that is where we go back to the old days now this is the future, because that was before but here is the present.

At the very begining of this painting it was a difficult task for me i would admit because i found it hard to concerterate. This spoilt my mood when painting as i was not as effective and the progression
did not impress me.
Although along the line as i went on i decided to recreate what i started, revealing a futuristic dimension

I started with a wash technique to make my foreground.

In this video i blended the blue sea with white colour, which gave it reflection. After a while i created the water flow and felt the it would be better that both sea and the mountain should have different techniques.

My intention was to make the sea appear higher than the mountains, but when i began patching up my work with a stippling technique, i was lost in my world of painting.

In this video i created the other moutain behind the first mountain i painted, alongside i used darker tones o make the rocks more realistic and give it a perspective. The darker it is the closer it apperars to you but the lighter is appears the farther it gets.

After a week of  thought and and good research i was feling more confident in my work and wanted to conclude on it. Looking at my past progression till where i got to i felt realy embarassed that i did such a thing so i recreated it to look more apealing.

Firstly, i started with the use of a cut out papper as i thought to myelf i needed to recreate so what would be the ultimate change. (A door). I sketched a door on a piece of paper and cut it out maing use of the background to help direct my brush strokes on that area.

After recreating the door image i thought of blending more on the mountain to make it have a different effect.Something that would support the existence of the door in the painting.

Furthermore i added some effect on the sky as i created the clouds with a stippling effect i made use of what i call paint drop. I learnt this technique long time ago but had forgotten about its dreamy benefit. with this the futuristic effect wass becoming clearer and i made sure to give the door a reflective display of the inner place with the red sun reflecting a sign of the sun setting.

THE DOOR DIMENSION

Overall i really enjoyed the expirience as i was able to create what i initially lost my inspiration on. The progess was tough but i came back after a good research on few artstis, like  Anselm Kiefer and Peter Doig in my next post i would give good review on what i have researched that helped me achieve where i am.

  1. This feels like the most confident post you have done this term, you are finding the language that you developed last term again in order to creeate this work. These are intersting posts, but you are right - they need to be contexutalised and the best way to do that is to draw comparisons between others work and your own. CErtainly post about Peter Doig and Anselm Kiefer (with your artist in focus) but alos look at Daniel Richter for technique and material reference - his colours will be a good influence for you too!
