The Jungle Museum (Advertising)
In this post we will analyse some examples of museum advertisement and will discuss the ways to make it effective as much as possible.
In the 21st century an advertisement is essential for every company. A huge diversity of different offers and products creates a huge competition which makes getting income more complicated. In these conditions an advertisement is an effective way to show your product to the world and tell customers why they should choose exactly this one. The success of the advertising defines the success of the sales in almost every sphere and museums are not the exception.

About this advertisement we really like the title, because it is sounds quite unusual what makes people interested in how human rights and pieces of art can be connected and how it actually looks like. These questions become a reason to visit the museum and get the answers. Also, usage of colours and composition of text attract viewers attention, what is definitely a significant point about advertisement, because it has to be visually good looking. Moreover, the slogan ‘great art for a great cause’ has a social context, which really affect people and becomes a strong reason to visit the museum.
This advertisement does not have any pictures of arts which are located in the museum, but it works by the text. This means that pictures are not that necessary when the museum have a strong topic.

With regard to this advertisement we find the illustration quite attractive, because it has pieces of art inside the letters, so people are able to understand what is this museum about and what kind of art they can see there. However, the part with information about the address and contact information is about the half of the whole poster, so it is distracts people from illustration. In this case text is not a main point as in the first advertisement, so it does not work the same way – it is better to put an emphasis on the picture here. Also, this piece does not have a slogan, so the only motivation to visit this place is artworks that viewer can see from the illustration and the list of artists.

The third picture has something similar to the second one, because it also has a list of artists and photos of artworks which people will see in this museum. However, it is not that original as the previous one – it has only the collage of arts. Moreover, in our opinion, the usage of the colours is not that attractive, because in this advertisement grey is the main colour and it has not that contrast which attracts people’s attention.
In conclusion, all these advertisements have their own advantages and disadvantages. We analysed these pieces and realised that our advertisement should have some bright attractive colours, interesting slogan and idea which will motivate people to visit our museum. Also, we decided to make an unusual concept – our museum is not only about classical and modern art, but also about the nature, so it is named ‘The Jungle Muesum’.

Mona Lisa, also known as La Gioconda, is the wife of Francesco del Giocondo. This painting is painted as oil on wood.
The painting was among the first portraits to depict the sitter before an imaginary landscape and Leonardo was one of the first painters to use aerial perspective. The enigmatic woman is portrayed seated in what appears to be an open loggia with dark pillar bases on either side. Behind her a vast landscape recedes to icy mountains.

One of Onabolu’s noteworthy early commissions is the portrait of Dr Oguntola Sapara (1920), a medical pioneer who is best remembered for his campaign against secret societies that were spreading smallpox in Epe. The composition of this water colour is somewhat similar to that of Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa (1503-06). The similarities referred to are the depiction of the subject in three-quarter profile, sitting sideways in an armchair, but looking directly at the observer. Also the sitter is set in front of an imaginary landscape, with the artist creating an illusion of distance by the use of aerial perspective. It is a sample of Onabolu’s brilliant foray into the art historical legacies of Europe to recast African artistic practices as equivalent, rather than inferior, to that of the West. sourceed from the african artist article

There are issues with your blog formatting, large gaps and white background, we will have to look at fixing these this week in the lessons to make the posts more readable for the viewer.
ReplyDeleteAlthough the advertisement is a group work, the analysis of the research needs to be unique and not be the same for every member of the group. Again this is something we shall discuss in class.
